Home sweet home

Here are a few pics of my apartment. This is the dining area and to the left is the kitchen. It's really old but I like these cupboards with the glass doors.

My bathroom seems to have taken on a turquoise birdie theme, all stemming from my must have birdie towels from anthropologie!

The birdies have spilled out from the bathroom and onto the cushions in my living room too.

More apartment details to follow soon! :)

Lexington

So three weeks in, I've been getting out and about quite a bit. People at school have been really friendly, and I went with one of my new work mates to Lexington today, to the Minuteman National Park. I learned a lot and walked 6 miles to Concord and back! The weather was glorious sunny blue skies and no rain in sight, despite the fact that my igoogle said it would rain.

On April 18th 1775, 700 British Soldiers were sent from Boston to Concord to seize military equipment.

That same evening Paul Revere was sent by Dr. Joseph Warren to ride to Lexington, to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were coming. He crossed the Charles River to Charlestown and rode by horse to Lexington.

On the way to Lexington, Revere raised the alarm, many of the patriots set out to help and give the warning too. He arrived in Lexington about midnight. After delivering his message, Revere was joined by a second rider, William Dawes and Dr. Samuel Prescott. All three were soon arrested by a band of British soldiers.

The warning they had given allowed the militia to repel the British troops in Concord, who were harried by guerrilla fire along the road back to Boston.

In Lexington, there is a visitor center where we watched a film about the 'midnight ride' and then did the walk to Meriam's Corner in Concorde and back again. A very enjoyable afternoon! Now I need to find the church where Revere had plotted the signal - one lamp by land, two by sea...

anthropologie

I've been in Boston for 3 weeks, and I have now had 3 trips to Anthropologie :)

Here are some of my favourite purchases so far...

goji berry candle:
cold-pressed tarocco orange blended with sun-dried goji berries. omg yum!! my kitchen smells delish!

Celestial Coasters: Glazed explosions of shimmering color, like supernovas on a delicate, dainty scale. Minneapolis potter Kerry Brooks makes each set by hand in her studio. look so good on my coffee table :)

my birdie towels: i just had to have these. they have been on my wish list for months, and now i have them i am so happy!!! my favourite thing in the apartment!!! i love the little embroidered hummingbirds :D

could this be the loveliest hummus in the world?

yes... i think it probably could :)

walking in boston

As I walked in Boston yesterday, behind the prudential center and the convention center, I came across this vast expanse of water, which was very pretty in the sunshine. Also in this plaza is the scientology church which is free to go in so may be worth checking out.

my neighbourhood

Well...here I am in Boston! I absolutely love it here, and I've been out and about exploring my neighbourhood. Sorry...neighborhood.

Even though it was piddling down with rain yesterday, look how pretty it all is :)

And there are hundreds of these Canadian Geese just wandering about my street.
